The SX-70 does not merely expose instant film. It ejects the sheet through matched rollers, spreads reagent between its layers, and borrows its operating power from the battery inside each film pack. Its folding reflex path lets the photographer focus through the same 116 mm lens that makes the picture, then collapses the mechanism into a slab.
Design consequence: film chemistry, optical path, power supply, and industrial design have to agree before the shutter button can exist.
